Giesemann Phosphate Test Kit

Professional Seawater Test Kit for Phosphate (PO4)
$28.70 incl GST
:

Phosphate PO4 ) is a chemical compound and contains the element phosphorus.

Too high phosphate values in the aquatic aquarium lead to the over-fertilization of the zooxantheles living with the corals in symbiosis and lead to a brown coloration of the corals. In addition to the presence of dissolved phosphate in the water, this can also accumulate in stones, decoration or soil. Too high phosphate concentrations in the water can be caused by insufficient skimming, irregular water changes or by feeding (especially frost food). Threaded algae in the aquarium are usually a visible sign of high phosphate concentrations.

A regular measurement of the phosphate content is therefore very important in order to avoid the formation of too high phosphate concentrations and to carry out countermeasures (eg by phosphate adsorbers, water changes, etc.) in good time. The optimum phosphate content in seawater should be between 0.03 and 0.1 mg / l for keeping coarse corals (SPS) and between 0.1 and 0.2 mg / l for LPS corals. Other coral species, such as soft corals, tolerate values between 0.1 and 0.4 mg / l.

In addition, it should be noted that an aquarium nevertheless should have low concentrations of phosphate (ie, below the values given above), since this is used as a nutrient by the corals and is necessary for a healthy reef aquarium.
